Boxing Weigh-In Held at Beau Rivage Tuesday
The Middleweight Boxing World Title is up for grabs at the Beau Rivage, which was packed with cruisers Tuesday, but will soon be crowded with fight fans from across the Coast for Wednesday’s nationally televised event.
The Beau Rivage rolled out the red carpet for the International Boxing Federation’s fighters. The main event will be between Jermain Taylor and defending welterweight champion, Sam Soliman. Jermaine weighed in at 159.8 lbs and Soliman just making the cut at 160. Both fighters are ready for the fight and addressed the crowd Tuesday.
Taylor says, “I’m coming off of a few wins and I’m just looking forward to this fight. I’ve trained hard and I’m ready to fight. Good luck to my opponent. Thank you.”
Soliman says, “It’s been a lot of fun being here, flying up here many a times, had many a fights in America and loved it. Every time, the hospitableness of the people here, it’s just been great and great support and I’m just going to continue the legacy.”
Soliman actually weighed in overweight at 160.2 and would have been ineligible, but after removing his unnecessary underwear on stage, he made the cut.
