Bow Ties and Beignets Event Coming Up

Are you a fan of bow ties or interested in learning more about them? Well, here’s how you can spend National Bow Tie Day and benefit a good cause at the same time. “Bow Ties and Beignets” will be held on August 28th at 8 a.m. at the Island View Casino.
First lady Deborah Bryant will be the keynote speaker and there will also be live and silent auctions where people can bid on autographed bow ties from everyone from former President George H.W. Bush to MLB star and former Southern Miss standout Brian Dozier. Proceeds will go to help place a rubber sidewalk throughout the playground area of the Harrison County Children’s Emergency Shelter.
Chad Riemann, co-sponsor of Bow Ties and Beignets, said, “When R Lee and I were talking about the needs in the community that was one that was brought to our attention. Neither one of us has a close tie to that and so we felt like that would be a very good thing for us to do to branch out and help the community.”
Since National Bow Tie Day falls on the day before the Katrina anniversary, the bow ties made for the event have hurricane symbols on them.
Tickets for the event are $50 including breakfast and the limited edition bow tie. They are $25 if you do not want the tie.
