Body found in river identified as missing airman

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has identified the body found in the Tchoutacabouffa River on Saturday as the missing airman from Keesler Air Force Base. He has been identified as 31-year-old Luis Godinez of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

According to Marine Patrol, it happened on the 1800 block of Popps Ferry Road in Biloxi behind Arbor Landing on the River apartments.

81st Training Wing Commander Col. Debra Lovette released a statement saying “our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of our airman. We are all deeply saddened by this tragic loss in our Dragon family.”

The exact cause and nature of the death is still under investigation.
