Body found in Gulfport
The body of a man found in Gulfport today has been identified as a Pass Christian man who has been missing since early this morning.
Sixty-year-old Kenneth Charlot was first reported missing from his Pass Christian home on Seal Avenue and was discovered around 11 a.m. when witnesses called the Gulfport police saying they saw the body of a black male lying in the woods of 30th Avenue and 23rd Street. Investigators with the Harrison County Crime Scene Unit showed up to the scene. The body was recovered and will be sent to Jackson for an autopsy tomorrow morning.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says more information will come once the autopsy comes back. “At this point in time, all deaths like this are considered suspicious and considered as a homicide until we can prove otherwise. That’s what the autopsy will do and once I get the autopsy findings then I’ll have more.”
One of the witnesses spoke with News 25 saying the homicide couldn’t have happened in Gulfport as the body appeared to be dumped off in the woods. Pass Christian police are now labeling the investigation a homicide and are urging anyone with information on Mr. Charlot’s whereabouts in the last few days to contact the departments main line at 228-452-3301.
