Blue, Red and First Responders Day

Blue, red and first responders serve in Hancock County every day. Today, it was their turn to be served.
Police officers, fire fighters and first responders had the chance to eat for free at the community center in Bay St. Louis Monday.
The volunteers who coordinated the event tell News 25 they wanted to provide breakfast and lunch to show their gratitude towards the true heroes in the community.
Hancock County Criminal Investigator John Alison tells News 25 that after eating some shrimp and grits, he says he decided the community’s appreciation tasted yummy. “Just thankful that they were able to provide something like this. The food was excellent and everyone has just been so helpful. We literally sit down, they bring us our drinks, everything. We can’t even do anything but come and just eat.”
Event Coordinator Lonnie Falgout said, “We’ve had a couple tragedies in Bay St. Louis. We’ve had some problems in Hancock County and these people have been working since Thursday and Friday nights and these people have been getting out of bed, some of them may not have gotten any sleep.”
The coordinators of the event tell News 25 they plan to have Blue, Red and First Responders Day every year.
