Blood Drive to honor Abby Bosarge
The Pascagoula community helped honor Abby Bosarge, a Pass Christian teen battling acute myeloid leukemia, by holding a blood drive earlier today.
Singing River Health System and the all-girls community service group Jeune Esprit sponsored the six-hour event at the Pascagoula Recreation Center.
The Blood Center’s Coastal Region Coordinator Gina Necaise told News 25 that blood banks across the nation are seeing shortages in blood supply right now.
For cancer patients like Bosarge, transfusions are common and therefore they need a constant supply of blood.
Jeune Esprit, themselves teenage girls, are the ones who chose to dedicate the drive to Bosarge. Jeune Esprit member Kennedy Williams said, “Her family is from Pascagoula. So, we wanted to do something special for her because obviously this is a very difficult thing to go through for a teenage high school girl and we are a group of teenage girls. So, we want to be able to support her as much as possible.”
If you were unable to make it out to the blood drive today there will be another one from 8 a.m. until 2 this Friday at Pascagoula High School.
