Black Friday Shopping Along the Coast

From “fifty percent off” to “buy one, get one free,” Black Friday sales are quickly approaching. News 25’s Kendra Turley has a sneak peek of what Black Friday shoppers can expect this holiday shopping weekend.
For some people, Black Friday deals aren’t worth the long lines and large crowds but for JerriLyn Lanier and her mother, it’s all part of a tradition. “Now that the sales have kind of started on Thanksgiving, we eat our turkey and we’re out the door.”
Businesses all along the Coast are preparing for the surge of Black Friday shoppers. Edgewater Mall General Manager Terry Powell said, “Everybody’s going to have some type of deal going on, some kind of giveaway, some kind of deal. Some of the hot items we’re looking at this year are the balance boards. It’s actually a segway without handlebars.”
Stores such as Gap, Banana Republic, and J-Crew will have 50 percent off merchandise. Nike, along with many other shoe stores, will have an additional percentage off items throughout the holiday weekend.
Mall officials tell News 25 the best thing for shoppers to do is to create a detailed list before hitting the stores. Gulfport Premium Outlets Director of Marketing and Business Rhonda Roberts said, “Go to the website and map out where you’re going. Have a plan when you get here and you’ll save a lot of money.”
A variety of stores along the Coast plan to sporadically post coupons and promotional codes online and through store apps which will save shoppers even more money than they expected.
“I just want to get my shopping done. My goodness, I’m usually the one that waits until December 24th and I’m stressed out and I said this year, I’m gonna get out there and get it done,” said Lanier.
Tomorrow, Edgewater Mall will open at 6 p.m. and close at midnight. Gulfport Premium Outlets will also open at 6 p.m. and will close at 10 p.m.
