Biloxi’s Finances Looking Better This Year Than Expected

Biloxi’s Economic Development Director, Jerry Creel, says the city’s finances are looking better than expected.

Biloxi collected $63,000 more dollars this January compared to January of 2014 in sales tax revenue, showing signs of more buying and spending in the city limits. Biloxi also saw an increase in permits from $5 million in January of 2014 to $6.4 million in January of 2015. Creel says these are all good signs.

He says, “Every one of our economic indicators are moving in the right direction. We were several million dollars ahead in January than we were January of 2014. We’re actually working on our two remaining blighted buildings.”

Biloxi hopes to see city revenue continue in an upward direction.
