Biloxi Shuckers vs. Pensacola Blue Wahoos
As if winning the first-half title in the Southern League South wasn’t good enough, the Biloxi Shuckers doubled down in the second half and won that championship, too.
Tonight, they begin their first post-season run since their inaugural season in 2015 with a distinct home field advantage at MGM Park.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos with the next best overall record in the division, Shuckers hosting four out of the five games at home if necessary.
Shuckers walk it off in the bottom of the 12th to win it 4-3. They take the one-game series lead, picking up right where they left off in the regular season.
Here’s Media Relations Manager and Broadcaster Garrett Greene on his first rodeo with the Shuckers. “No, I mean this has been a banner season for sure. When you took a look at the number of prospects that got sent here to the Shuckers to start the season off, and being prospects and actually producing are two totally different things. And to get the performance out of this team has been exceptional, and I think not just a credit to Mike Guerrero but this entire coaching staff and the job that they’ve done this year. It says they really want to win, says that they care about winning and that they have had a goal of winning a championship since they set out for day one. Player development is one thing, but these guys were talented last year in Carolina, they were really talented this year and they wanted to win, and they came out and did that.”
The Shuckers and Blue Wahoos will get right back at it tomorrow with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
