Biloxi Shuckers vs. Montgomery Biscuits (game 5)

After their record-setting hot start to the season, the Biloxi Shuckers went through a dry spell where they won just two out of eight games. Those days appear to be over after this morning’s Education Day game versus the Montgomery Biscuits.

Shuckers hosting the rubber match of this five game series, looking for their third straight win to close out the homestand.

Shuckers win the game and the series as they boast an overall record of 13-7 through their first four series.

Biloxi maintains a two game lead in the Southern League South standings over the Mobile Baybears despite having to overcome some early season adversity. Biloxi Shuckers Second baseman Dylan Moore said, “It’s gut-wrenching when you lose a couple in a row here and there but we knew we had a good team, we knew we were confident in our pitching and all facets of the game so we knew that we would come out of it. That’s just baseball, you’re going to lose some games in a row and you’ve just got to stay strong and keep going.”

Biloxi Shuckers UTL Nick Franklin said, “I think we all knew, I think we all knew that we had it in us, I think. That’s what I’m talking about, guys that have just great team comradery. And to come in and compete every single night with a different effort is huge.”

The Shuckers are back on the road for their next five games against the Birmingham Barons, starting tomorrow at 7:05 p.m.
