Biloxi Shuckers sweep postseason awards

As dominant as the Biloxi Shuckers have been this season, they’ve only swept a five game series three times. But today, they took their brooms out once again for their most impressive sweep yet.

All three major post-season awards from the Southern League are coming home to Biloxi, making the Shuckers the first organization to accomplish that feat since 2016.

Corey Ray has been tabbed as the most valuable player. Zack Brown was named most outstanding pitcher. Mike Guerrero was named manager of the year.

In addition, Ray and Brown have been named post-season all-stars alongside closing pitcher Nate Griep.

Ray appears to be the obvious choice for MVP as the number two prospect of the Milwaukee Brewers leads the league in eight major offensive categories including home runs and stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Brown has been nothing short of an ace, on the mound, pacing all Southern League teams in ERA and winning percentage.

Of course, Guerrero is making all the right moves as the skipper with Biloxi’s 78 wins already tied for the franchise record.
