Biloxi Shuckers red hot to start 2018

Prior to this season, the longest winning streak the Biloxi Shuckers had ever been on was six games.

This year it only took them seven games to match that run during their best start in team history. Tonight’s game versus the Mississippi Braves notwithstanding, the Shuckers were 6-1 with a two game lead over every other team in the Southern League South.

Another victory would give Biloxi a new franchise record for consecutive wins, dating back to its inaugural season in 2015.

Win or lose, this jumpstart momentum appears to be here to stay throughout the course of Biloxi’s fourth season on the Gulf Coast.  Biloxi Shuckers Shortstop Jake Hager said, “It’s great, I mean we have a solid team. I think we have a great pitching, I think we have a solid lineup, I think we have great momentum right now. We’re going to have a good team all year round.”

Biloxi Shuckers Manager Mike Guerrero said, “It gives the players trust on their ability that they’re going to be able to perform at this level. Always a good start is bringing to the player, that’s a good thing to do.”

The other two times the Shuckers posted six wins in a row was during the 2015 campaign and then the 2017 season.

Shuckers took on the Braves in game three tonight. Shuckers win 5-4.
