Biloxi Shuckers Hopeful Field Will be Done Ahead of Schedule

The name of the Biloxi baseball team has been revealed, and the Biloxi Shuckers are ready to play! All they need now is a field.

A representative from W.G. Yates & Sons Construction made an appearance at Tuesday’s city council meeting to update officials on the project. Yates reports the construction is ahead of schedule and continues to meet each milestone set before them. While not ready to proclaim they will finish early, there was speculation that if construction continues at this pace, they may be able to take weeks off the estimated completion date.

Jason Wold, Project Executive for Yates Construction, says, "I think it’s going to be huge. Baseball has been talked about coming back to Biloxi for years. We’re just happy we’re a part of it and especially this is our 50th year anniversary. I think it’s going to be a huge asset to the city. That was proven in the turnout last night at the naming."

Yates expects the project to be completed no later than August of 2015.
