Biloxi police warn about fraud attempt

Biloxi police are warning residents of an attempted fraud scheme involving people posed as Biloxi police officers attempting to collect ‘unpaid fines.’

In a public service announcement released this afternoon, police stated ‘individuals contacted citizens stating they were officers from the Biloxi Police Department collecting unpaid or old fines through PayPal and or gift cards for payment.”

Biloxi police will not contact a person by phone for owing fines. If a person owes ‘unpaid or old fines,’ they will receive a letter in the mail with a number to call.

Anyone who has been affected by this incident is urged to call Biloxi police at 228-435-6159.
