Biloxi police preparing for Spring Break Weekend

Black Spring Break is next week which means now is a crucial preparation time for law enforcement in Biloxi.

They are gearing up for the busy three days in many different ways.

With the extra people in town, Biloxi Police Chief John Miller says they want to make sure they have enough officers to keep everyone safe so they have put out the word looking to bring in extra police for the weekend.

One tactic that has shown success during past large events is the traffic plan which they plan to re-use once again.

Chief Miller says knowing an exact amount of people who will be here is impossible, but they are trying to stay ahead of it. “Ticket sales are not as high as they have been and the hotel/motel associations are telling us they are not booked all the way up yet. Now that could change. In just one weekend that could all change. We have been trying to determine if there are other events going on throughout the South that might pull people, but we haven’t seen that either.”

Spring Break Weekend is April 12th through the 14th.
