Biloxi police car crash during high-speed chase

On July 21, 2020, the Biloxi Police Department responded to a complaint of a suspicious male in the Hard Rock Casino Parking Garage, located in the 700 block of Beach Boulevard.

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with a male, identified as 54 year-old Gregory Alan Williams of Maynardville, Tennessee.

As officers were attempting to determine if Williams was involved in the original complaint, Williams allegedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed in a white GMC Acadia.

While fleeing the scene, Williams nearly struck several vehicles and pedestrians that were in the area.  Officers pursued Williams through Biloxi and Gulfport to Interstate 10 where he then fled west towards Louisiana.

In the area of Diamondhead, one of the Biloxi police cars lost traction on the wet roadway and crashed into a concrete barrier.

The remaining Biloxi Police Officers stopped to render assistance and Williams was last seen driving west on Interstate 10.

The officer involved in the single vehicle crash sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital.

Several law enforcement agencies assisted with the pursuit and additional charges may be forthcoming from those agencies.  The Biloxi Police Department obtained a felony arrest warrant for Williams for the charge of felony eluding.
