Biloxi Plans New Commercial Development with Coming of Stadium

Commercial development in Biloxi is still going strong with new restaurants and hotels on the horizon.

One big change coming with the baseball stadium will be the name and look of the Four Point Sheraton Hotel. By the end of the year, it will be turned into a Double Tree by Hilton. Community Development Director, Jerry Creel, tells News 25 that a majority of the casinos along Highway 90 are undergoing renovations. Just last week, the Biloxi Planning Commission issued a $4 million repair permit for the Casino Magic property.

Creel says, “What they are doing right now is to make it weather proof, you know, make changes to the outside. The footprint will remain the same for now, just basically repairing the exterior and that’s all the permit covers at this point.”

Sales tax revenues for the City of Biloxi in November of 2014 were the highest they’ve been in just over a decade.
