Biloxi PD’s New Rides

Cruisers won’t be the only ones showing off their rides this weekend. Today, Biloxi PD added five Ford SUVs, four Harley motorcycles and two Tahoes to their fleet, just in time for Cruisin’ the Coast.
Chief John Miller of Biloxi PD says it wasn’t planned but the vehicles will be out and about this weekend.
The new vehicles cost a little over $500,000 but it didn’t cost taxpayers a dime. The entire cost was paid for by drug forfeiture money seized by Biloxi PD.
The new vehicles are highlighted by the two Tahoes that will be used for K-9 units. “The doors are automatic. The officer can release his K-9 without being close to the vehicle if he needs to. Also, the other side of that is the new transport system on the K-9 unit allows an officer to transport someone he’s arrested. In the past we couldn’t do that, we had to actually bring another unit in to pick up someone who had been arrested,” said Chief Miller.
The new vehicles are replacing current motorcycles and SUVs the department has been using for over a decade.
