Biloxi PD Honors Officers

Members of the Biloxi Police Department frequently go above what’s asked of them. Today, those officers were recognized for it.
This morning, the Biloxi PD honored its Officers of the Month, Officer of the Quarter and the Civilian of the Quarter. The event was held at the VFW on Veteran’s Avenue.
Biloxi Police Chief John Miller says his officers usually do not like to be recognized but he says these ceremonies do more than honor the bravery of a select few officers. “It’s very important, not only for the individual person that’s getting the award, but for the rest of the department to see that and know that here’s one of our guys that’s done a great job. Sure, he knows what his duties are but he or she stepped way above what we expected of them and we appreciate that. We can’t train that. That’s just  instinctively something that they do.”
Today’s ceremony was the first time it was ever held somewhere outside the Public Safety Center.
