Biloxi Mayor wants legal actions for spillway damages

Here on the Gulf Coast, we are still feeling the effects of the reopening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway months after it has been closed.

Most of the water at the beaches, including the ones in Biloxi, are still under a ‘no contact advisory.’ The spillway has caused major devastation to local sea life and businesses along the Coast.

Now, Biloxi Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich says they are taking legal action for all of the damage done to the Coast.

“When you look at what has happened, and those flags are still out there. That has never been there. If you grew up here, you know you have never seen those flags for that long. It is not over with yet. Finding out what our options are, we can’t wait. It’s up to us, no one else. So, that is why we have teamed up with the county, the City of D’Iberville, and Biloxi. We’re going to spend some dollars to figure out what our options are from a court and what are capacities to recover.”
