Biloxi mayor honors Keesler commander for her leadership
At the Biloxi City Council meeting, Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich declared that today is Colonel Michele C. Edmondson Day.
Edmondson has served as commander of the 81st Training Wing at Keesler Air Force Base for the past two years. There was a celebration at City Hall, honoring her time at Keesler as the outgoing commander gets ready to take off to Washington, D.C.
Everyone at the council meeting enjoyed cake and Mayor Gilich presented Edmondson with a proclamation and framed picture of the Biloxi light house so Edmondson can take a piece of our Coast with her to Washington. “People will tell you. Everyone on the installation that they love being at Keesler and it’s because we live in Biloxi and Biloxi supports us and cares about us and they’re proud to have it. In my 24 years, I’ve never been a part of a better relationship between the local town, the local community, and a military installation. I’m going to miss it,” said Edmondson.
Mayor Gilich declared Edmondson as a ‘Biloxian for life’ and members of the community wished her well.
