Biloxi man accused of attacking officer at medical center
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Biloxi man has been arrested and is accused of carrying a gun on the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus and attacking an officer.
The 49-year-old suspect, identified as Richard Neil. was taken into custody Monday about 11 p.m. at the Jackson medical facility.
The man resisted arrest when officers made contact with him, then assaulted an officer, authorities said. Police say he was carrying a 9mm handgun.
Neil was charged with possession of a weapon after felony conviction, carrying a concealed weapon on school grounds, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The officer was treated at a hospital and later released.
