Biloxi Lions Club Outstanding Citizen Award Ceremony

The Biloxi Lions Club held their 91st Biloxi’s Outstanding Citizens Award ceremony at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum.

The award was presented to Colonel John G. Sullivan for his volunteer work at Popp’s Ferry Elementary. He reads to the children every week and serves as a strong role model to the students.

Col. Sullivan also serves as a Sunday school teacher at Biloxi First United Methodist. Sullivan was presented with the Loving Cup Award and a proclamation from Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich. “I as a child had difficulty reading and so that’s why I volunteered my time to help children who were in the same predicament I was as a small child. So, it was an opportunity for me almost 70 years later to be involved in young children’S lives.”

Sullivan says he’s eager to start reading to the students at Popp’s Ferry Elementary in person.
