Biloxi Law Enforcement Awards

The Biloxi Law Enforcement Awards at the Golden Nugget honored those past and present who put their lives on the line to serve the city.

The award ceremony recognized retired officers, fallen officers, officer of the year, and much more. Good Samaritan Corey Griffin was also honored during the ceremony.

Griffin gave the Biloxi Police Department a helping hand restraining a man running into traffic on Highway 90.

Griffin didn’t do his good deed to be recognized, however, he appreciates the honor to be in the room with others who risk their lives on the Coast. “Man, I was ecstatic. I didn’t really know what to think. After this happened, I wasn’t expecting any recognition. It was the right place at the time. I was super excited.”

Police Chief John Miller said, “A lot of community folks would think I shouldn’t jump in this. This is an actual physical confrontation. Corey jumped right in and helped us out and never batted an eye. We very much appreciate it.”

Griffin tells News 25 he still hopes to one day become a police officer here on the Coast.
