Biloxi Hires Event Planner for MGM Park

With construction on MGM Park going smoothly, the City of Biloxi is starting to take a deeper look into how they will maximize the use of the stadium.

Under the terms of the contract with the Shuckers and the Beau Rivage, the city is allowed to have 10 non-baseball events in the stadium each year. In order to help plan these events, the city has hired native Biloxian and former semi-pro baseball player, Cliff Kirkland, for the job. Kirkland is currently the Main Street Director for Biloxi, and although nothing is set in stone, he already has some ideas about how the park can be best utilized.

Kirkland says, “We want to support the community too. We want to see some bigger festivals, maybe some more art related events. There’s just so many things that can go on there.”

In addition, Kirkland and the Main Street Association are planning a citywide tailgate for the Shuckers’ opening day. While nothing is final, they are planning to block off some roads to host different vendors and even invite some members of the Milwaukee Brewer’s organization to come celebrate the start of the Biloxi Shuckers season.
