Biloxi High School graduate is the youngest African American Boeing 777 pilot
A former Biloxi resident and Indians grad made history last week without him even knowing about it.
Twenty-three-year-old Malik Sinegal became the youngest African-American in the world to be certified as a Boeing 777 pilot as well as be left seat qualified.
Sinegal told News 25 he had no idea that he had accomplished such a feat until a representative from Boeing informed him of the history making achievement.
History made or not, Sinegal has always had his eye on flying a B777. “The Triple 7 is one of the airplanes that people usually don’t touch until they’re around their forties or fifties or they’ve been at the airlines for a very long time. And I came down with the opportunity where–a scholarship opportunity where I was able to get into the airplane. The biggest reason for me is that I’ve always wanted to fly this airplane. I was able to get in it for my first time in 2004 going to Anchorage, Alaska, which is my favorite place in the world.”
Currently, Sinegal is mainly doing flight instruction at New Height’s Aviation in Batesville, Mississippi.
