Biloxi Firemen Install Smoke Detectors

The Biloxi Fire Department will soon hit the streets to make sure residents’ homes are protected.
Starting this Saturday and the next two Saturdays, Biloxi firemen will roam different Biloxi neighborhoods, knock on doors and offer their assistance with providing smoke detectors for those who need them.
This is a joint campaign with the American Red Cross titled “Turn your Attention to Fire Prevention.”
Deputy Fire Chief Vincent Payne tells News 25 that last year they installed over 1,000 smoke alarms into Biloxi homes. “If you have working smoke detectors it will give you that first warning and it’s been a lot of stats stating that if you have working smoke detectors it could help save your life. We always urge people to make sure they have current and up to date smoke detectors.”
If the Biloxi Fire Department does not reach your home during its installation tour and you need a smoke detector, call the fire department and ask for one at 228-435-6200.
The department will also check your current smoke detectors to make sure they are working properly.
