Biloxi Firefighters to receive hazard pay during COVID-19 crisis

Biloxi firefighters are now receiving hazard pay in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak.

On Monday morning, Mayor FoFo Gilich approved the emergency work premium pay to all essential personnel.

Employees like law enforcement or firefighters will receive one half of their hourly rate for every hour they work. Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney said, “I can’t speak to the other departments in the city, but I will tell you it’s important to my firefighters and it shows a great show of support to these guys, men and women, out there fighting this from our administration. They have committed to protecting the citizens and committed to the employees.”

According to Chief Boney the hazard pay will be instated until this emergency subsides.
