Biloxi Fire Department rescues puppies
It was a dog-gone good week for the Biloxi Fire Department after rescuing a mother and her litter of puppies on Sunday.
The fire department responded to an animal rescue call on Division Street. Upon arriving, they heard whimpering and found the mother and her five puppies trapped underneath a burned out building surrounded by rubble. Once the dogs were located, they removed the debris and were able to rescue all but one puppy who was already deceased.
“It’s always nice when you can do things like this. We don’t get a lot of opportunity to do this and we know it means a lot to the community. Mostly everybody in the community has a pet and so they can relate to it and it shows them that we’re not just here to save human lives.”
A bystander took the puppies and their mother home to care for them.
