Biloxi Fire Department helping with Hurricane Florence

After going through natural disasters like Hurricanes Camille and Katrina, the Gulf Coast knows what the East Coast is experiencing with Florence which is why the Biloxi Fire Department wants to help.

Two Biloxi firefighters are working with the state task force in Virginia to help. Also, the fire department plans to team up with partners in Iowa to help first responders.

While East Coast responders are helping with the storm, the fire department helps them take care of their properties. Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney tells News 25 they represent the entire City of Biloxi while helping those in need. “We’ve been through it. We got through it. You can get through this, too. Plus, we bring some pretty good skills along with us to be able to help. So, there’s a lot that goes along with it, but the main thing is that we bring our community to their community and tell them that they’re not alone.”

Chief Boney is keeping a close eye on the storm to determine what and where the fire departments help is needed.
