Biloxi Fire answers the call to help with Hurricane Dorian relief
Yesterday afternoon, three Biloxi firefighters deployed to Jacksonville, Florida, to help with Hurricane Dorian relief. This deployment is part of a group called ‘Task Force Three.’
‘Task Force Three’ is the southern-most force in the state trained for search and rescue as well as disaster relief efforts.
The three firefighters from Biloxi are accompanied by 12 others from multiple Coast fire departments like Gulfport and Pascagoula.
There are a total of 42 men and women from our state deployed to help with storm efforts. Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney said, “They train very hard. Our guys were out there after Katrina. They formed these teams and they work out very well. Naturally, our guys along the Coast here have a lot of experience when it comes to hurricanes. That experience is sought out around the country when they’re considering teams to deploy.”
These responders will be deployed to different locations on the East Coast once the damage from the storm is assessed.
