Biloxi Files Motion to Recoup Rent

Biloxi is attempting to recoup Point Cadet casino rent money that the state had inadvertently placed in its general fund.
The city is still owed $1.18 million on top of the $1.3 million that was recovered from the state a few weeks ago. The money represents the city’s share of annual rent now paid by the Golden Nugget Casino. The city, secretary of state and the institutes of higher learning, which once operated the J.L. Scott Marine Education Center at Point Cadet, each receive a third of the rent.
The motion filed by the city suggests that Biloxi directly receives the money from the Golden Nugget and will forward the remainder to the state in the future.
