Biloxi City Council To Appeal H.B. 1523

Biloxi Mayor Andrew “Fofo” Gillich has spoken against the governor’s decision to sign House Bill 1523 into law.

Now he’s taking his stance one step further.

The mayor plans to issue a resolution during today’s city council meeting that calls for the repeal of House Bill 15-23.

Within the resolution, the mayor says quote, “That the city does not sanction or tolerate discrimination against its citizens or visitors and seeks to preserve and protect the rights of all individuals regardless of religion or identity.”

Some council-members news 25 spoke feel passing a resolution would create a contentious relationship with Jackson at a time when Biloxi needs the legislature for things like the oil spill settlement among others.

We’ll be at the council meeting this afternoon and will bring you a full report at 5:30.
