Biloxi City Council tackles the city’s biggest projects in meeting

The Biloxi City Council is making big moves in the city’s development.

The council will take up two proposed amendments regarding the special events ordinance ahead of Cruisin’ the Coast later this year.

These amendments redefine the permitting requirements for large events, like Cruisin’.

Meanwhile, the council also passed an ordinance preventing medical marijuana dispensaries from conducting business downtown.

The council says this is because they want downtown to be family-friendly and an entertainment destination.

On the development front, the city has officially accepted a bid from a construction company to build the Popps Ferry extension. That project is estimated to take roughly one and a half years to complete.
