Biloxi City Council meeting

The Biloxi City Council had a lot to cover at tonight’s meeting including land development and new construction.

The hot topic of short term rentals will be discussed at the next city council meeting.

The council discussed the district on Howard Avenue in regards to amending the Biloxi Land Development Ordinance. This will allow developers to make something positive downtown.

Creating the overlay district opens the door for new visions in the area in hopes of bringing in more revenue for the City of Biloxi. Biloxi Councilman Robert L. Deming III said, “Think about it, if people looking outside of the Beau Rivage or the Hard Rock right there, see a lit up, well developed place that has a lot of life, they are going to come down and migrate to spend some of their time there. If they stay one more day because of what we are doing here, that in itself is a huge economic impact and a plus for the entire Coast.”

Developers are currently coming in for approval of their plans for the district with major opportunities to generate revenue in the area.
