Biloxi City Council Discuss Construction Progress

Members of the Biloxi City Council speak out on the slow progress of Division Street construction. There have been several change orders submitted to the council, extending the overall construction process.
Biloxi City Council President Felix Gines tells News 25 that initially this was a two to a two and a half year project. Now the project could take up to five years before it’s complete.
According to council members, construction from Oak Street to Lee Street should be complete by now.
“They haven’t even started on it. And the community is livid about it. They’re looking for some progress. And of course, the community has been very lenient with these contractors. If you’re not going to do anything, then we need to go ahead and get someone else,” said Gines.
Mayor Gilich proposed to hold weekly meetings with contractors from here on out in hopes to help speed up progress.
