Biloxi Baseball Team Expected to Bring Revenue to Coast

While fans are excited to see baseball in Biloxi, the benefits of a having a team extend further than that.

The future Biloxi baseball team is expected to create a lot of revenue for the city as well as draw even more people to the Gulf Coast, meaning more people will be booking hotel rooms and eating at restaurants. Chris Morgan, the General Manager of the BayBears, tells News 25 how great a minor league baseball team really is for a community.

Morgan says, “Oh it’s incredible. I was fortunate enough to be here to be here back in ’97, the first year of the Mobile BayBears, and the impact of the community was tremendous. We averaged 4,700 people a game. We pretty much visited every school. We approximately booked 2,000 hotel rooms a year for visiting teams. It’s a tremendous boom for the community in the sense that it enhances the quality of life. Biloxi, obviously they’re not short of things to do there, but I think a baseball team is tremendous.”

The name of the Biloxi baseball team will be released in October.
