Biloxi Baseball Stadium Construction Ahead of Schedule

The Milwaukee Brewers Double-A franchise is set to move to Biloxi for the 2015 season.

A 12 month contract with W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company began in August, which would slate the stadium to be completed two thirds through the baseball season. Wednesday, team officials said construction is ahead of schedule and the stadium could still be ready for the April season opener.

Buck Rogers, Team General Manager, says, “I’ll tell you right now, Lord willing, the weather’s great, we got some can-do attitudes with the folks working on this project. I’m totally optimistic.”

Vincent Creel, Public Affairs Manager for Biloxi, says, “This thing about them being ready to play in April, this is the first we’ve heard of it in City Hall. That would be extraordinary. That would be spectacular. Some people may think that would be unbelievable.”

The City of Biloxi says while they want the project to be sped up if possible, they don’t want to risk the safety of the facility. As it stands, the expected completion date is still August of 2015.
