Biloxi baseball alum Trey Shaffer makes first ever collegiate start
Doing anything for the first time can be a nerve-racking experience, like a pitcher making his first-ever collegiate start.
But what about a pitcher making his first-ever collegiate start against the number 1 team in the nation. Welcome to Trey Shaffer’s world.
Last night, the Biloxi alum took the mound on the road against the top-ranked LSU Tigers. The Southeastern Louisiana lefty held his own out there, outlasting the opposing starter with a 96 pitch, six-inning no decision.
Shaffer put away five batters via the strikeout, but struggled mightily with his control, throwing six wild pitches and hitting two batters.
The sophomore also gave up four earned runs in a 6-5 loss to the Tigers.
