Biloxi Bait Shop Finally Reopens

After nine years, the new Biloxi bait shop is finally open for business. The bait shop was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina and owner, Pat Kuluz, opened a small temporary facility. His new shop officially opened Thursday.

Kuluz offers bait, fuel, and will soon have a full tackle shop. The closest place to get fuel or bait is two miles away, inconveniencing many boaters who frequent the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor. Kuluz had friends helping him with the shop over the Labor Day weekend to jumpstart the holiday.

Lonny Bobenger, live bait businessman, says, “Very happy, they get the fuel right here and they don’t have to spend money to get fuel. We handle live croakers, live shrimp, fresh dead squid.”

Bobenger has been in the live bait business for almost 50 years and helps Kuluz at the bait shop. For more information about the bait shop, call Kuluz at (228) 243-7930.
