Big Numbers on the Coast for New Year’s Eve

Gulf Coast hotel and casinos have seen a spike this year in people wanting to spend their New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day right here on the Coast. The best part: with New Year’s Day falling on a Friday, visitors have decided to stay an extra few days, creating even more business for casino resorts and non-casino hotels across the Coast.
Linda Hornsby with the Mississippi Hotel and Lodging Association said, “I will say, this weekend, everything that is filling up is event driven. It’s New Year’s Eve and events at the casinos and some of the non-casinos are even full for New Year’s Eve. Some of it is spilling over into the weekend. I think some of the biggest impact is it makes it a three-day weekend. New Year’s Eve falling on a Thursday night, it has the possibility to stay over for Friday or Saturday night. That’s the big news.”
