Beau Rivage donates perishable food to Mississippi Coast food pantries

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — The Beau Rivage Resort and Casino is partnering with local food pantries to donate the perishable food they have on hand.

Non-profit organizations Extra Table, Loaves & Fishes, Lord is My Help, and the Hancock County Food Pantry will help distribute the food.

Officials expect these donations to benefit thousands of people across the Mississippi Coast.

The Beau Rivage closed Tuesday morning, along with several other Mississippi casinos, due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission says the casinos are ordered to remain closed until further notice.

MGM Chief Operating Officer and President Bill Hornbuckle said in a statement to press on Tuesday, “Our highest priority remains the health and well-being of our guests and employees.  We will work to mitigate the impact this will have on our employees, partners and communities. We will continue monitoring the situation and announce plans for reopening when appropriate.”
