Bears on Patrol

If you’ve ever had to call 911, it can be scary. For kids caught up in the situation, it can be traumatic. That’s why hundreds of teddy bears were donated to D’Iberville first responders on Saturday.
The North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville and St. Martin decided to collect the bears at the eighth annual Bears on Patrol drive thru in D’Iberville Saturday. This was the club’s first service project upon chartering in September 2010 and they tell News 25 that they want to make sure that each teddy bear is special. Keith Wilson with the North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville and St. Martin said, “We make sure that each teddy bear has a tag on it and it’s got a message of comfort and love from the club as well as the police and fire departments and if there is a child involved in any type of emergency, the police and fire department get a chance to give the teddy bear to each kid that may be involved.”
The club donated 429 teddy bears last year and this year they had a goal of 500 bears.
