Beach Cleanup Continues

Following this past holiday weekend, Coast residents and tourists were greeted with trash along the beach. Today, things are looking much cleaner.
The Sand Beach Authority has been out every day this week attempting to clean up the mess left from beach-goers during the July 4th weekend. Crews have been out raking the sand and emptying trash drums along the Coast. Today, they could be seen cleaning up what’s left near White Avenue in Biloxi.
Chuck Loftis with the Sand Beach Authority said, “We’re a little bit ahead of schedule from where we were. We anticipated about two to three weeks, but we’re looking at maybe by the end of this week, weekend we should have about 85-90% of it done. We’ve taken care of everything from 20th Avenue in Gulfport all the way to Biloxi and finish that.”
Loftis tells News 25, next to be cleaned up are the beaches in Long Beach and Pass Christian.
