Bayou View Middle School Food Drive

One Gulfport middle school is doing their best to give the less fortunate a Thanksgiving to remember.

Students at Bayou View Middle School have collected more than 1,000 non-perishable food items to be donated to Feed my Sheep ahead of Thanksgiving.

The National Junior Honor Society at the school has been running the ‘Biggest Turkey Food Drive,’ a fun twist on a traditional drive that involves teachers getting pied in the face as long as the donations keep coming in. National Junior Honor Society Treasurer Lindsey Holloway said, “That was our main focus this year is giving back to the community because they help us no matter what, we wanted to give back.”

National Junior Honor Society Sponsor Tiffany Jones said, “Seeing the kids completely into it and we know teachers are being pied in the face, but the kids really do understand that they are helping the community. It’s fantastic.”

They’re not done yet, the school is still collecting through the end of the week before they make their donation next Monday.
