Bay St. Louis remembers fallen officers at memorial service

About a hundred people gathered outside the Hancock County Courthouse in Bay St. Louis to honor fallen peace officers in the county.

The memorial service featured a color guard and remarks from Bay St. Louis Mayor Mike Favre and other dignitaries in attendance including Sheriff Ricky Adam and the police chiefs of Waveland and Bay St. Louis.

Different law enforcement groups came together as one for the laying of the wreath ceremony.

This year’s service took on extra meaning after Sgt. Steven Robin and Officer Branden Estorffe were killed in the line of duty in December. Bay St. Louis Chief Toby Schwartz said, “It’s a way to come together as a community yearly to commemorate their ultimate sacrifice as well as just remembering and honoring them with the community, friends, and family and our fellow police officers.”

This ceremony was a part of ‘Officer Memorial Week.’
