Bay St. Louis Police Chief Dies from Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound
Bay St. Louis Police Chief Mike De Nardo has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
He shot himself at the police station in Bay St. Louis and died after being taken to Memorial Hospital in Gulfport this afternoon.
Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam says De Nardo was asked to turn in his government issued equipment earlier today pending an investigation into the department before he shot himself.
Bay St. Louis Mayor Les Fillingame says Police Captain Wes Mayley will act as police chief for the time being.
