Bay St. Louis Homicide Update

Authorities are still looking for answers in a weekend shooting that left two Bay St. Louis residents dead and injured an infant.
Hancock County officials say the suspect arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing a car from one of the victim’s mother could be linked to the homicide.
Gabriel McPherson kept a close eye out as her two younger sisters played in the yard. She and others in the area are still reeling with shock after hearing about a weekend shooting that left two of their neighbors dead and the victim’s baby, Mia, wounded. “I was like ‘wow that happened down the street from my house?’ It was just really crazy.”
Authorities discovered the bodies of 28-year-old Kristina Quintini and 29-year-old Demetrius Mueller and their infant Mia, who had a bullet wound to her shoulder, at the home they shared on Louis Piernas Road Saturday night.
According to a GoFundMe page, the injured baby, who was taken to a New Orleans hospital, is Quintini’s only daughter. “It’s usually pretty good around here, but the baby got hurt and stuff. It was really sad,” said McPherson.
Hancock County authorities believe the crime may be drug related.“More than likely he was killed for some of his cash or his drugs or some kind of way related to that type of activity.”
Meanwhile, police have arrested Myrick Laneaux on criminal charges after a vehicle belonging to Mueller’s mother was stolen, but authorities have not named Laneaux as a suspect in the shootings.
Bay St. Louis Mayor Les Fillingame says he doesn’t know much about Mueller, but says Quintini was a former Southern Miss dance team captain and well-known throughout the community. “The young lady was very well thought of and she’s going to be missed and family is very much grieved by it and we are and we’re praying for them.”
The infant is said to be in stable condition and is expected to recover.
As Bay St. Louis police continue with their investigation, News 25 will keep you updated with the latest information as it becomes available.
