Bay St. Louis Harbor still recovering from Zeta damage

The Bay St. Louis Harbor is recovering from Hurricane Zeta.

The harbor suffered slips and dock damage and while we’re getting ready to enter the 2021 hurricane season, Harbor Master Sean Hales advises boat owners to make sure they always have a plan in place in case a storm rolls through, even a back-up plan for if you’re out of town.

While the repairs are slowly, but surely happening, there are some new additions to the Harbor.

The harbor has a new dock thanks to funds from the Department of Marine Resources Tidelands Fund.  This adds about 50 more slips to the harbor. Hales said, “That brings the total for the harbor up to 214 and we are excited to get that going. We have a few boats already come in and it’s almost already full. It’s one of those things that if you build it, they will come. With everyone going on out in Bay St. Louis, the additional docks out there is a big improvement for the harbor.”

The grant allowed the harbor to also extend their day dock by 400 feet. In total, these projects were about $1 million.
