Battle of the Forces

The Armorbearers are a nonprofit organization who helps disabled or low income active duty or veteran personnel. They plan to raise money for a great cause at MGM Park.

“We serve those who served because of who we serve:” that’s the motto for the Armorbearers, helping disabled or low income veterans with housing needs. Armorbearers Chairman Ron Laabs said, “There were five guys at this 1108 TASMG that decided to start this nonprofit. We are all led by God and we are just trying to help out.”

Helping out Mississippi Army National Guard Veteran and Purple Heart recipient Jack Walker is what the Armorbearers have in store. Walker is in an incomplete quadriplegic, left leg amputee, and his house was destroyed by fire in April 2018. “Jack is a very humble guy. He’s ecstatic, but we are a new organization and funds are gathering and collecting.”

When the Armorbearers heard about Jack’s situation, they didn’t hesitate to come together to help one of their brothers. On March 23rd, the organization will host the Battle of the Forces and the celebrity softball clash at MGM Park in order to help build Jack a new home. “It’s going to be a double elimination tournament between all the armed forces, Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and the first responders. We will also have a celebrity and disabled veteran game at noon.”

The organization is still looking for sponsors. Tickets for the event will be $20. You can purchase tickets at or “Getting all of these organizations together on one day, I think is outstanding. It’s bigger than me. It’s bigger than Jack. I think it’s going to be a big, huge success.”
